Cape Breton Mug
Cape Breton Mug
My Cape Breton mugs were inspired by a trip to the stunningly beautiful Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, Canada. Towering trees that seem to drop into the cool blue waters edge, the constant search for a whale tail in the distant ocean. I wanted to encapsulate this memory on this batch of Cape Breton mugs.
I first threw these mugs with a toasty tan stoneware clay. They were then trimmed, whale handles attached, the trees and coastline were carved before they were slowly dried and bisque fired. I then glazed them with 9 different coats of glazing and fired them again to 1220c to achieve this coastal combo. The middle section has been left as textural raw clay.
The mug measures approximately 9cm tall. Every mug has the same theme but are all slightly different.
Price is per mug.
All my pieces are handmade by me in my studio in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. All my items are handmade, perfectly imperfect and one of a kind.
